Consumers need to learn more about the International Standards and Certification programs that exist. Had Mattel required their suppliers to be Certified to a standard called QC 080000 IECQ HSPM (Hazardous Substance Process Management) This would not have happened without knowledge and/or notification. Consumers worldwide need to demand that all suppliers of consumer products have an international certification for Hazardous Substance Process Management. The IECQ QC 080000 IECQ HSPM Specification for HSPM is the only international system available and more than 550 companies have already undergone certification. Many of them in China and Taiwan. www.iecq.org is the place to learn how to achieve such a certification.
